Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Chongqing

Meals: none | Overnight: Chongqing city centre

Fly or take the high-speed train to Chongqing, where our staff meet you at the airport or station for a direct private transfer to your hotel. No sightseeing today - simply check in with your ID and settle into the mountain city. Our team will call or text you between 19:00 and 21:30 with tomorrow's departure time and meeting point, so please keep your phone on.

Day 2 - Three Natural Bridges and Fairy Mountain

Meals: breakfast, lunch, Tujia banquet dinner | Overnight: Wulong or Pengshui

After breakfast, transfer to the Three Natural Bridges Scenic Area - a UNESCO World Heritage site, the world's largest natural bridge cluster and second-largest sinkhole group (approx. 2 hours). Access is by mandatory shuttle bus. Continue to Fairy Mountain National Forest Park (approx. 1.5 hours), known as the Summer Palace of the Mountain City and the Oriental Switzerland for its rare southern alpine grassland.

Day 3 - Jiuli City and the Wujiang Painted Gallery

Meals: breakfast, Miao long-table banquet, local Chongqing dinner | Overnight: Changshou or Fuling

Visit Chiyou Jiuli City, the largest traditional Miao architectural complex in China and the tallest stilt-house structure in the world - often called the Potala Palace of the Miao people. Then board a boat through the Wujiang Painted Gallery, a hundred-mile stretch of gorges combining the grandeur of Qutang, the elegance of Wu Gorge and the drama of Xiling, passing Tuotuo Gorge, Monkey Mountain and the old town ruins.

Day 4 - Old Chongqing and departure

Meals: breakfast, lunch | Tour ends in the city

Visit a jade and handicraft centre (120 min) and a local speciality market (90 min), then explore Ciqikou Ancient Town, the AAAA-rated thousand-year-old town nicknamed Little Chongqing, for street food along its flagstone lanes. Photograph the famous Liziba light rail station where the monorail runs straight through a residential tower, then finish at Hongyadong, the stilt-house complex cascading 75 metres down the cliff face - stay on for the illuminated night view.
